Dr. Broderick Sawyer
Broderick Sawyer, Ph.D. obtained his master’s degree from the University of Louisville, completing his internship at Stony Brook University Counseling and Psychological Services. He earned his doctorate in 2019.
Dr. Sawyer graduated with a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Louisville in 2019, with an emphasis on cognitive behavioral, brief psychodynamic, mindfulness, and compassion-based approaches. Dr. Sawyer completed his clinical internship at Stony Brook University, using a blend of brief psychodynamic and attachment-based approaches with emerging young adults and older adolescents. At Be Well Kentucky, his postdoctoral fellowship training emphasized the use of evidence-based treatments in adults and adolescents.
Dr. Sawyer primarily treats individuals struggling with Obsessive Compulsive Spectrum Disorders, Trauma-Related Disorders, Anxious and Depressive Disorders, Identity-Related Stressors in traditionally marginalized populations, and Eating Disorders. To achieve effective outcomes for a wide range of diverse populations, Dr. Sawyer uses several evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brief Psychodynamic Therapy, Mindfulness and Compassion-Based Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, and Exposure Therapy. To personalize treatment to unique client difficulties, Dr. Sawyer leans on effective assessment and conceptualization to maximize effectiveness, enhance collaboration, and prevent relapse.
Dr. Sawyer is a former college basketball player from the Connecticut/New York City border. He loves to study Eastern philosophy and practice meditation, and enjoys spending time with his Yellow Lab, Yoda.
