Dr. Melissa Gibson

Melissa earned her doctorate in clinical psychology with an emphasis in treating Children, Adolescents and Families from Spalding University School of Professional Psychology. She completed her internship training at Southern Illinois University Counseling and Psychological Services and her post-doctoral work at Bellarmine University Counseling Center. She went on to work as the Assistant Director at Bellarmine University Counseling Center and in private practice at StrongMinds group practice in Louisville, KY.

Melissa’s professional training and work provide a foundation of experience as a generalist, treating a variety of diagnoses and presenting concerns including anxiety disorders, trauma, eating disorders, depression, identity development and interpersonal distress. Melissa focuses on building a trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship as the foundation for treatment. Then clients can begin to understand their “stuckness”, identify their values, and learn new strategies to create meaningful change in their lives.

Melissa provides evidenced based intervention for anxiety disorders and eating disorders for teens and adults. In addition to clinical work Melissa supervises doctoral practicum trainees at the clinic.

Melissa is a southern Indiana native, where she currently lives with her husband and their three children. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, listening to live music and trying new restaurants.
