Frequently Asked Questions

Therapy usually starts with a consultation appointment to seek to understand what brings you into treatment and provide some education about potential treatment options.

Next we assess your symptoms using standardized measures. We focus on clarifying your current concerns and past experiences, then we identify a diagnosis (if present) and give treatment recommendations. We provide education on your diagnosis and the treatment recommendations before we start services as a part of the informed consent process. We can answer any questions you have before starting treatment and answer additional questions that pop up as treatment progresses.

Once you start therapy services, most sessions will start with a brief check in on how your week is going and symptoms and successes you experienced the previous week. We generally set an agenda for the session. At times we will administer assessment measures to monitor change and progress.

Sessions often have psychoeducation component and a behavioral component. This supports learning new skills; you practice new skills in session and then in your daily life. Once you’re ready, we face our fears on purpose in sessions (exposure), so many sessions will include doing an exposure.

Sessions wrap up with identifying plans for the week and homework to support your continued progress in treatment.

All payments are due at time of service and we do not offer payment plans. Often initial consults are $25 more than the hourly rate. This is due to out of session time spent consulting with other providers. Below are pricing ranges for our therapists:

Provider TypeCost Estimate
Doctoral Student Therapists$75/hour or less
Masters Level Clinicians$115-$150/hour
Licensed Psychologists$150-$210/hour
Clinic Directors$200-$350/hour

Yes.  We have providers that are licensed in multiple states and have authority to practice interjurisdictional telepsychology through PSYPACT.  These clinicians can provide telehealth to individuals living in any of the PSYPACT states (Map of States).  Virtual therapy is provided over a HIPAA compliant Zoom connection.  You will need an internet enabled device with video and audio capabilities, internet connection, and a private space where you are comfortable having sessions with your provider.

Our therapists are specialists. We regularly see and treat anxiety or panic related disorders including but not limited to Eating Disorders including Anorexia, Bulimia, ARFID, OSFED, Binge Eating Disorder, and PICA, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder including POCD, Scrupulosity, Harm OCD, SO-OCD, Relationship OCD and Pure O, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Excoriation, Phobias, and plenty more. We specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Exposure/Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). We work with clients of all ages and also see those with depression, Generalized Anxiety, and ADHD.

Our practice does not participate in any health insurance or managed care company plans, including Medicare.  We do accept FSA and HSA cards. We suggest that you contact your insurance company to find out what your deductible and co-payment are for “out-of-network mental health services for a psychologist.”  Often, insurers will pay a certain percentage of what is “reasonable and customary” after you meet your deductible.

It may be helpful for you to ask what the term “reasonable and customary” means as it relates to a 90791 code (initial evaluation), 96130 (assessment) 90837 (hour long individual therapy session), and 99354 (extender code). It is also helpful to ask if these rates apply to any licensed clinician or only to a licensed psychologist. If you are receiving telehealth services, a GT code may be included in those categories. This will help you understand how much your insurance company will ultimately reimburse you, and what your out of pocket expenses will be before you begin treatment.

For those unable to afford treatment we offer an income based reduced fee program. We use federal poverty guidelines, household size and household income to determine appropriateness. The application must be received and approved prior to scheduling.
