Dr. Katie Waltrip, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified, doctorate-prepared psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner providing medication management across the lifespan.
She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Psychiatric Mental Health from the University of Louisville, graduating summa cum laude, after beginning her nursing career in emergency medicine following her 2013 graduation from the University of Kentucky. Years in the emergency department showed her how few options patients had for quality mental health care, and closing that gap is what moved her into psychiatric practice.
She works closely with therapists and treatment teams so that medication decisions fit the rest of a patient’s care rather than sitting apart from it.
Outside of work, she plays volleyball, spends time with family and friends, and cheers on the Kentucky Wildcats.
